Respirator fit testing
A respirator fit test (also known as a mask fit test) is required under AS/NZS 1715:2009 “Use and maintenance of respiratory protective devices”.
Any employee who uses respirator PPE (full-face reusable respirator, half-face reusable respirator, half-face disposable respirator) should undergo a respiratory fit test.
Respirator fit testing should be completed:
There are two types of respirator fit tests:
In addition to providing both quantitative fit testing and qualitative fit testing, our experienced team also provides education and training on storing, cleaning, maintaining and the correct use of respirators.
Quantitative fit testing (QNFT) uses a machine to measure the leakage around the face seal and produces a numerical result called a “fit factor”. This comprehensive method provides a numerical result and report for analysis.
This test method can be used on all respirators (full-face reusable, half-face reusable and disposable).
LEARN MOREQualitative fit testing (QLFT) uses a hood and testing agents (Bitrex or Saccharin) and relies on the users ability to taste or smell a test agent resulting in a pass or fail.
This test method can only be used on half-face respirators (reusable and disposable).
LEARN MOREOur team provides both Quantitative Fit Testing and Qualitative Fit Testing through out the central North Island including Hamilton, Te Awamutu, Otorohanga, Cambridge, Morrinsville, Matamata, Thames, Coromandel, Waihi, Tauranga, Rotorua, Taupo and Whakatane.
